If your anything like me, you may have thought, “Once I get the vertical gastric sleeve done my cravings are going to go away.”
Yeah right think again.
If you don’t know…
My favorite food is hot wings.
It’s the one food that I could eat everyday pre-surgery. Post- Surgery I still have random moments when I will get a STRONG craving for them. I could be doing something as simple as getting dressed for work or taking a shower, and hot wings will cross my mind. That’s when I realized I had to make a choice. Am I going to risk it all and get the wings or am I going to start breaking those unhealthy habits and make the change? So, of course, I made the best decision. I drunk the damn protein drink and changed my thoughts to my goal.
I am learning that this whole process is entirely mental. For Real For Real, Life is just a mental game in general. Your mentality is the only thing that separates you from your dreams. My dream is to live a healthy lifestyle, lose about 90 more lbs, and to have a successful blog. With each decision I make, I am learning to keep my personal goals in mind. So, if that means that I have to drink protein shake instead of eating hot wings, lose sleep and write a post, exercise after a draining day of work or even wake up 30 mins early to work out I’ll do it because I know it’s going to take a lot to break these old habits. I am learning that sometimes you have to step outside your comfort zone and do things you haven’t done to get where you want to be. Is it going to be easy? Of course not. Am I going to make mistakes? No doubt. Will I start every day fresh with a positive mindset even if I mess up? You are damn right.
My dreams and goals are so important to me. I feel like, for the first time, my life isn’t about the 9-5 job, and I am excited.
So with that being said am I disappointed that I still have my cravings yes. It’s life. Life is full of disappointments. The important thing is how you react and deal with the frustrations. You can; either fall back into your safe place and continue making your regular habits, or you can step outside your comfort zone and become the person you have always wanted to be, which will you choose because I am choosing to step outside my comfort zone?
